Recruiting a Donor

All donors must be under the age of 36 years and in good health. There are exceptional circumstances and this will be discussed with you at your first appointment. There are three different types of donation:

Anonymous Donation

Known Donation (which can be your relative, friend or other person known to you)

Pool Donation

Anonymous Donation
Donors are in short supply and we are constantly advertising on behalf of our patients. As soon as a donor is found, we will contact you to give you her non-identifying characteristics. If you are satisfied, we will then continue to evaluate her.
As this is an anonymous donation, you will never meet or see the photograph of the donor.

Known Donation
If you know someone under the age of 36 (friend or relative) who would be willing to help you directly, you can bring them to the centre for a consultation. At the consultation they will be registered and will have all their screening done. Both you and the donor must see two separate counsellors and be put forward to the Review Committee Meeting. If the Review Committee approves your treatment, you can begin as soon as both you and your donor are ready and all medical checks have been completed.

Pool Donation
You may know someone under the age of 36, who would like to help you by donating her eggs but does not wish to donate directly to yourself. She can donate to an anonymous recipient from our programme, which will mean that you are being moved to our "priority" waiting list. As soon as your pool donor has completed a donation cycle you will be matched with an anonymous donor from our programme, as soon as a suitable match is available. This means that although they are not donating directly to yourself, they are allowing your treatment to proceed much sooner.
